Dear President Dudley,
I am a 1995 U graduate. I am writing to lend my voice to the call for a name change for the University. I originally supported the great work that was done which ended up retaining the name. But that was then- and this is now. As a country we have come to a point where we must explore and demand change everywhere. We can no longer keep making excuses about why it is OK not to change the name. The University must take this step b/c not only is it the right thing to do morally, it is also the right thing for the longevity of the institution.
As a member of the 1995 25th reunion committee, I was able to hear you address diversity in our fall meeting. I know diversity is something that is on your agenda. Now is the time to tackle the name change as it will no doubt positively impact diversity of students and faculty.
Sincerely,
Dasha Hermosilla
